    Hi all

Buses going by the house are making the floors in the house shake badly, can't figure out a way to get rid of the buses :P

Any ideas how to reduce the shaking? There is a bit of bounce in the floors - maybe new joists to stiffen it up? Or some kind of underlay?

I've seen a foam tape run along the top of joists before, would that do anything?

    Any ideas appreciated!

I dont know anything buses shaking buildings as such but a skilled carpenter, can lift the boards and add extra wood which can stiffen. Some underlays will add a lot too. If you wanted to spend more there are cement and wood boards that would feel more like a concrete floor.

Not a structural engineer but just an idea: try to figure out why there is so much vibration coming from the buses. It may be possible that the road is of a poor quality causing road surface to move too much under heavy load.
