Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dental Bridge cost

My father in law has a worn a pallet for many many years now and has broke a front tooth off it.
His natural front tooth has also cracked to a stump and he is considering a Bridge for three front teeth.

(Two that were on the pallet and his own broken front tooth)

He's mid 60s and doesn't want big expenditure but wants rid of the ever lasting pallet if possible.

We're looking for any information on prices before he goes around checking for the best prices.

    Many Thanks in advance.

Not many clinics will give you a quote without first examining his teeth to see their condition/suitability for bridgework.

At the least you will be looking for costs for:

    • Examination and xrays of teeth being used to hold bridge in.
    • Extraction of the broken tooth.
    • Repair of existing denture and addition of tooth to replace the extracted one. Then wait for 10-12 weeks for bone to heal and shrinkage of ridge to occur.
    • 5-6 unit bridge depending on condition of teeth being used to retain bridge.

Most Clinics have a fees page that you can use to get an estimate. A 6 unit bridge is double the length of a standard bridge so if there is a fee for bridgework, double it, or if the bridge fee is listed per tooth, multiply it by 5-6.

Based on that price list using 5-6 porcelain bonded to metal units, price would be €3.5-4k, a zirconium/emax (better cosmetics but case specific) it would be €4.5-5k.

You will notice “from” next to bridgework, the cheapest bridge is a single unit Maryland bridge (single tooth with two metal wings glued onto back of adjacent teeth), this is not suitable for the situation the op is describing as there are three teeth missing.

    Thank you Both.
Without giving the man a heart attack we will say the pallet is the better option

    Many thanks
