As far as I am aware, if you pre-order the game you get access to the demo.

I don't know why everyone's so excited. Steam's server will crap out in an unholy manner with so many people downloading it and trying to play it.

Well it's preloading, again.
Steam has a second Demo entry to the previous L4D2 preload.
Maybe I'll get 5 mins out of it before I go to work.

EDIT: never mind, its painfully slow.

It was up to 44% when I left for work, but it started at 33%.

So now I have "Left 4 Dead 2 (Unreleased)" and "Left 4 Dead 2 Demo (Preloading)" in my games list. The Steam Commintiy page is also saying 8pm now instead of 6am (and 8pm yesterday).

Yeah if you have a preorder code you can download the 360 demo. Unfortunately the codes don't seem to work in Ireland!

A friend in the UK who is on the demo wrote me this;

ah-mazing! The melee weapons are great, the uncommon-common idea is inspired (in the 2 map demo you have to fight against the occasional riot-outfitted zombie- who are bullet-proof except on their backs!) the new special infected are terrifying and work really well to make the sequel feel very different, the graphics are much improved and the guns 'feel' so much more robust and damaging- although some of them feel weighted to be slower. All in all v.v.v.good!

More info on the demo test for server owners:

We are still trying to get some final tweaks into the server so please prepare for some updates in the near future addressing some bugs recently reported to us. Thanks.
