Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    James Dier, my great grandfather didn't by Castleboro, he bought Coolbawn from the Bruin family in Oakpark in Carlow. Coolbawn was the Bruin family country retreat. It was one of three farms he intended pass on to his three sons. Coolbawn was passed to Bob, possibly meant to have gone to Dick. Clonroche House went to my grandfather Sam. Sculabogue was the third but as Dick was killed, was sold to the Watchorn family, his relatives by marriage, Eliza was a Watchorn. He had a farm in Kilgibbon in Bree of his own as well. Coolbawn was burned down during the civil war, an apology was issued by the IRA later as the house was burned "by mistake". The land in Coolbawn still remains in his descendants hands, as does the house in Clonroche, the land there having been sold.
