Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Great price for this, the TomTom sat nav can be a bit touch and go but this is a steal!

On a more serious note, I believe this works with Navfree:

I've no experience with it but it's quite a bit cheaper than the TomTom app (Navfree is free) so worth a go if you get one before paying for TomToms own.

Another thing to note is that the GPS chip requires external power so it's not suitable for portable/handheld GPS (if you want, you can get around that by carrying some portable power source).

I can confer that the tom tom works with Navfree.
I am using the tom tom cat kit with navfree

I'd try NavFree on iPod Touch 4g but I presume GPS needs a constant wifi connection....is that the case?

Looking at the spec there is a GPS reciever built into the accessory.

I would imagine it would not need a wifi connection to work if there was a map downloaded to the device.

the maps are dowloaded in navfree when you downlad the app.

Cheaper? Yes.

But better? It hasn't got line-out or the ability to charge while the device is docked.. plus it really doesn't look very secure.

I use it in my tractor, it never fell off. Use the usb lead into cigarette lighter adaptor
