Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So today I went ahead and picked myself up a project car. Was originally looking for an E34 but this came up at a price I couldn't refuse. NCT'd and all until April. She's rough on the outside, needing a new bumper and a respray but the respray will come in time.

Here she is as I picked her up:

First thing to do is to give it a 3 Stage polish like I did with my 525i and see where I stand body wise.

    Here's my initial list:
    • New Front Bumper
    • Respray Rear Bumper
    • Refurbish Headlights
    • Mk.II MFSW Retrofit
    • Wheel Speed Sensor
    • Brake Pad Sensor
    • Camshaft Sensor
    • Short-Shifter Kit

A leather interior swap is on the cards and potentially a V8 swap in the future, undecided on that as of yet.

    The pair after getting home:

And now she's resting in her new home for the next few months:

Don't think I'll get a chance to attack the paint or interior tomorrow but hopefully can get cracking on it Friday.

Quick update, second stage polishing is finished, should get around to doing the final stage and sealing it next Thursday or Friday, happy with how it's coming out, much glossier than it was anyway :pac:

Some scratches I just can't get out without wetsanding like you see on the bonnet but I'll live :pac:

Next on the list while I wait for my diagnostic equipment to arrive to do the mechanicals is restore the headlights, remove the bumper and do a thorough interior valet :)

Getting restored, the owner rebuilt the entire engine in his kitchen :pac: looks brand new. Body is rusty in bits but it's being taken care of :)

That is absolutely wonderful to hear it is in the right hands! I must rebuild an engine in the kitchen some day :p

I do miss mine a bit from time to time...

Bit of an update, she's been sitting in the shed for the last while all sad for herself, took her out last night as she had the NCT today and ran very well.

    NCT time:

    The result:

Very happy with that to be honest, flew the main tests and shouldn't cost more than about €50 to sort and I've already fixed the washer jets :)
