    Tis a damn shame they are crossing the Malahide - Swords road but not providing any sort of interchange.

    It's OK, you will be able to use dual carriageway / 4-lane road tro get to an interchange.

    roads ultimately are not the answer. How long is the "this road is congested lets widen it" or "this road is congested lets build a new one" philosophy going to continue. Obviously the former is more prefarable to the latter but how far will it be taken? Until they've the whole country covered in tarmac or more likely tar n chips! public transport is really the only answer.

    public transport is really the only answer.

    In a country with a largely rural population, public transport is never going to be a viable option for more than half the population of this country. At the end of the day, if Bus Éireann ran regular buses to every little village and hamlet in the country, they'd go under within 6 months at a huge cost to the taxpayer.

    Public transport is not the panacea people would to think it is.

    If it wasn't so expensive to get the train or bus to Dublin a lot more people would use it.
    €50 + for an Adult return from Cork is a joke!

    Yes we have a low population density, however it is also a myth that we have a "largely rural population" - 70% or so live in urban areas. It is largely those building ribbon housing around urban areas that are endangering public transport and other services.

    You hit the nail on the head there Victor. If the the Gov hadn't let urban sprawl get as bad as it has they wouldn't be faced with this mess!
