Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

2006 Pajero - completely dead - but battery ok.

I went out to the Jeep last night (2006 Pajero) and it was dead as a dodo.

I think, when I turned the key on first time, I heard some kind of a click and then nothing since that. No dash lights coming on at all - Central locking won't work. It is as if the battery is as flat as a pancake.

The thing is, I drove it only an hour beforehand and it was the finest. Even if there was something leaking power from the battery, I don't think it would die as dramatically as that. I'm going to get my hands on a Multimeter this evening that I think will confirm that the battery is ok.

Presuming the battery is ok - What else should I look for ? Would there be one main fuse that can blow and cut power to everything ?

Yes check the battery first and tbh it sounds like thats it. Yes it can just die.

The alternator would probably be the next port of call. Check the built in voltmeter on the dash when you get it going. I had one die on me that didn't trigger the battery warning light, but was only showing 11-12V on the dash, and eventually ran down the battery. It should be around 13-14V with engine running.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

    Still can't rule out battery.

Our Corolla diesel does similar when battery fails.

Just to follow up on this...... Started the Jeep with Jump leads no bother. Tested the battery & alternator and all looked good. Worked fine for a few weeks.

Happened again then last week- Jeep was turned off for 10 minutes - Went to start it and it was a dead duck.... Friend of mine had the loan of the jeep at the time. Mutual friend came upon them when they were stuck, popped the bonnet and noticed a loose connection to the battery. Tightened it up and all good.

TBH.... I feel like a bit of a twat for not thinking of this myself....!!!!
