Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi All,

Could anyone help point me in the right direction for a new car?
I'm looking for something that's not too hard on tax and has decent MPG, a reliable make too that's not known for too many faults.

My budget would be a max of 7 to 8 grand.
Tax budget no more than 400 or so.

    I currently have a peugot 206, 2001 1.1, i get approx 37MPG on that.
I do about 250 miles per week, most of that is driving from balbriggan to ballymun on the M1/M50 and then a few local shop/gym runs during the week.

Some cars i am think about are 2007/8 astra 1.4 petrol, or 2007/8 honda civic 1.4.

    Thanks in advance!

Brother in law has the ceed and it is a mighty little car. Loads of power in the diesel.

But the 7 year warranty is by far the best. They do not quibble whatsoever if there is an issue.

The interior is a bit plastic fantastic but it is hard wearing.

He is sorry he did not buy the estate version. Now 7 years old and does not look too dated and still going strong.
