Can anyone tell where to find information on Irish clan colours and kilts. The Irish as far as I'm aware did not have a tarton but did have a solid family colour in their kilts.

Google just brings up page after page of scottish tartan.

    Any help would be appreciated

Most historians and genealogists agree now that there was no clan structure in Ireland at all, not in the sense that there was in Scotland. Those heraldic shops were you can buy coats of arms (that will not actually relate to your own family) probably sell that sort of thing too.

I would agree with pinkypinky & can only add the following .
Ulster tartan is possibly the oldest that is based on a old piece of tartan discovered on a farm in 1956 at Dungiven.
It was dated as 1600-1650 Audery Henshall of a Scotish museum assesd it was possibly woven in Donegal.
