Auto Stop / Start fault I’d say

Often a symptom that your battery may be weakening.

Or that you've manually disabled Auto Stop/Start (look for the corresponding switch and toggle it...)

So the fault has been detected that a new brake servo unit pressure sensor is required. I called a BMW main dealer and their price is €172. Can anyone advise if I would be better getting an original part or would a spurious part suffice? Also any suggestions where I could get this cheaper than what BMW dealer quoted? TIA

Are there spurious parts for this? A quick google suggests not. And does that price include fitting?

I would try and stick to BMW parts if possible. I found one here on ebay for slightly cheaper:

    https://www.ebay.ie/itm/Genuine-BMW-Brake-Servo-Unit-Pressure-Sensor-34336875605/192117884889?hash=item2cbb1e47d9:g:7HgAAOSwXOhaczX~

A saving of less than 30 quid though, so it might be worth just buying in your local dealer tbh.

AFAIK that lamp is nothing to do with brakes, are they diagnosing a different fault?

AFAIK this is the only fault there is. A guy who specialises in BMWs hooked his computer up to the car & this is the part I was advised I needed. Having done a quick google search it does appear to be the part required for the stop/start issue I have

Very odd, google the start stop issue and you get leads to warning lights with the A in the roundy bit, Google for a pressure sensor fault and you get an exclamation mark in the roundy bit.

DSC and stop start warning lights are both shown Here around about post 8

The stop/start function will stop working if there is a fault with any key component - i've seen a stop/start fault on an A5 with a failed steering control module recently - fix the fault BMW diagnosed and the stop'start fault will clear.

The brake pressure sensors are a common fault across the bmw range and have being down through the years. Any fault in that system normally cuts out the auto stop start function anyway. So as has being said if u fix the fault the auto stop start will kick back in.

I work in a bm specialist. U pick up the part and pop down and I’d fit it for you in under 2 mins and reset everything then for you. I’d gladly help out a fellow boards member.

That’s very decent of you to offer. Where are you located?

Where in co Kildare. Not even sure where you are from.

Well look no point in paying bm top dollar who in turn pay the 2nd apprentice to fit it. When it can actually be fitted in two mins
