Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Concrete vs Cement based screed

    Hi

    Just a quick question on floor screed, I was originally planning to go with a cement based floor screed but i’m leaning towards a polished concrete floor.

    I know it’s possible to polish a cement based screed but I simply don’t like the look of it and extra material like glass cannot be added.

    Are there any drawbacks in using concrete as opposed to a cement based screed when ufh is used?

    I imagine the initial heat time is longer with concrete and also think it would retain heat longest.

    Any idea how much longer: any ballpark figures on minimum depth of concrete that can be used?

    The concrete would probably be better than screed as it would be stronger with aggregate. Thermally you won't have enough of a difference to notice I think. The key issue is the thickness so it doesn't crack. If you had planned only a 50mm screed you'll need thicker of you don't want it to crack.
