Preparing for Irish part of Primary PME interview

    Can anyone suggest the best way to prepare for the Irish part of the Primary PME interview? Is it doable to get up to scratch by yourself or would you need grinds and if so how often and how long in advance of the interview? I repeated last year and got an honors C3.

    Absolutely get grinds! If you feel like you need to get up to scratch, then you'll need to practise your Irish in a mock interview setting with someone with a good standard of Irish. If you do it on your own, you'll have no-one to correct your mistakes and no-one to help you improve your answers.

    Read about this today - they are going to have to do a standarised Irish exam rather than go from college to college. Should speed up the process.

    Maybe you should think about secondary teaching instead. Scraping the minimum requirement for Irish is not what you want. Remember, teaching is not about you, it’s about your students, and your students deserve a teacher who can actually teach Irish to a good standard, not just fool the relevant authorities enough to get themselves qualified.
