13-06-2009 6:15pm#1Recently started up a pai gow table for players that did'nt want to play in a crazy cash table and they love it. Can't get enough of Pai gow. I used to play alot of it in vegas when badly steamed up...so as to limit the damage I could potentially cause myself
Anyways just to get the ball rolling I was the banker/house and set a min bet of €1 and max at €3. Had a full table of 6 players who after 5 mins of explaining the rules were frothing at the mouth to get gambling.
The rules I use are the same as in Vegas....namely your 5 card hand must beat your 2 card hand. Dealer/house must split pairs and one joker card is used which can be used to make a flush, straight or straight flush only, otherwise its used as an ace.
I don't use the house edge I.e(5% commision on all winning hands that the players win) nor do I use the bonus chip bet, which pays odds on players hitting two pair all the way up to a royal flush.
First session which lasted just over an hour I banked €40, then the following night I was banker again and lost €20.
Has anyone else ever tried to run a pai gow table game? Its obviously a game where you don't lose or win much. More of a cheap game where players are happy to buy in for a few bob and have abit of fun.
Alot of players at my games recently when knocked out of the tournament end up watching the cash game instead of playing it like they used to. This is as a result of the cash game been bananas. And I suppose its no fun to the players who don't have to money to throw away.
So now they want a pai gow table set up along side the cash game.
Would anyone know where I could find odds for pai gow bonus chip bets.....I can't seem to find anything and I don't remember what the odds were myself. Something like you get paid 2/1 on your money for hitting two pair etc.0

I was at the game in Boyle the other night when they where playing it. It was explained to me being dim got it straight away.
i wish i stayed on for a trial go at it.

Going to give it a try at tonights game Ian. The only way the banker/house can win long term is by playing it like they do in the casino's....which means the house takes a 5% commission on every pot the player wins. Couple that with the fact that you would have to supply a bonus chip option(with reasonable odds....50/1 for hitting a straight).
So I'll see how it works out tonight. The swings aren't huge in pai gow and I don't think it would be worth my while to pay a dealer to sit down and deal pai gow for 3/4 hours just to break even
