Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Tax on Irish gift while not Irish tax resident

I'm resident in Australia for tax purposes and am no longer ordinarily resident in Ireland.

If my aunt, in Ireland, wishes to gift me 50k, am I liable to tax? The threshold is 32.5k for aunt. The money would be coming from Ireland.

From an Australian perspective, such gifts aren't taxed. I'm wondering about the Irish side of things. Would it matter if it went to my Irish or Australian account?

If your aunt is Irish resident, then you are liable to Irish Capital Acquisitions Tax.

Irish tax applies, if the giver or the receiver is Irish resident.
