    We separate large trays of chicken breasts into sandwich bags before freezing.


    When each portion is taken out to be defrosted yellowy liquid residue is always left on the plate the bag defrosts on.


    I've always wondered, if these bags are so obviously waterproof what is getting through? Why is it not just water from the melted ice crystals from the exterior of the bag? Would the liquid contain the microbes we are always warned about with raw poultry?
