Repairing cut cable on hedge trimmer

    I cut through the cabel of this hedge trimmer


    I cut about two feet from the machine, Can i put a plug on it and use an extension. It was in an extension anyway similar to https://www.hilltop-products.co.uk/6-way-extension-lead.html


    I just notice the extension says total load must not exced 13 amp?



    The fuse in the hall tripped.It was plugged in where the router is usually plugged and that fuse tripped. It wasn't the ECLB trip switch itself is that unusual?

    And make sure the brass pin end is connected to the trimmer and not to the longer bit of cable.

    Thanks i read old thread saying these are not safe, or is that a different one?

    I did exactly this 2 years ago, fixed it with this plug and have had no issues since.

    They were talking about choc block type connectors.

    The connector linked in this thread is fine and also is similar to the type that is on actual devices like Flymo mowers etc. Baring in mine that you have to fit the right connector on the right cable as previously pointed out by poster above.

    I'd rewire it, easiest and neatest option
    open the case, cut off the damaged section and rewire it into the terminals.

    If the cut is near the plug then you can get a replacement lead and wire that in. You can get them off amazon for not much, though I usually cut them off dead garden tools before I bin them.

    (edit. rereading that the cut is beside the machine. 100% just wire it in, 5 minute job and a much better result than having a connector on the wire)
