Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Right, we should probably hold off guessing and use the last 2 questions to narrow it down a bit

    Summary

Male caucasian american actor, over 45, known for comedy, has won an emmy. Was not in a sitcom with characters name in title. Show hes in has won emmy up to 10 years ago. New episodes within last 4 year of current show but no emmy nominations for show in the time

I know was gona throw a second guess on ed o niel but said I'd hold off until someone asks a couple more q's and see if i can cross him off the list

    Is he over 65?

(That might help with the Ed O'Neill theory)

Beat me to asking the same question :)

This is not a question, just a theory, was going to guess Michael J Fox but he has had the Michael J Fox show so it probably rules him out.

I still think Bryan Cranston is correct.

Actually i think modern family has had emmy nominees in last 4 years so that would rule ed o niell out

Does moderm familys emmy record rule ed o'neill out

(Question to the masses not to andy :) )

I would have thought Kelsey Grammer was ruled out because he was in Fraiser as Fraiser

Three more that spring to mind are judd hirsch ted danson and alan alda.

A question around film careers might help here but with only one left id like people thoughst..

    It's not Larry David, he's 69.

It's not anyone from Friends, last episode made in 2004.

It could be some of the male cast from Arrested Development; Will Arnett, Jason Bateman although they have only received Emmy nominations while the show itself recieved an emmy. Does that count? More of a clarification than a question per-say ...

I think we clarified they had won an emmy themselves

    Edit: question 13

Also over 65 so larry d qualifies on age, not sureabout othercriteria

Edit 2 saturday night live has a 2016 emmy nomination for director and larry david has appeared. Does that rule him out?

    Current contenders list

    judd hirsch
    ted danson
    alan alda
    Larry david

Anything to rule any of them out
    Any other contenders
Any single question that might make it clearer

saturday night live has a 2016 emmy nomination for director and larry david has appeared on this in 2016. Does that rule him out?

Edit ted danson is similarly ruled out for his work on fargo
Edit2 judd hirsch also ruled out for work on the big bangtheory ? Alan alda out for the blacklist

(Need to reread the exact questions at this stage)

    Qustuon for the masses

I was going to say Jeffrey Tambor but he won an Emmy recently so does that rule him out?

Edit: actually he was in a show which was nominated so I think that rules him out

Is sat night live a chat show? Would an appeareance on this rule him out? I mean who would know everyones appearance on a chat show?

Might be useful to get andys interpretive view (not a question:) ) if an emmy nomination is associated with a show even in a broader category, for example if an actress is nominated for their work on the show, does this count in terms of emmy questions on the show. Most sources would link them but does andys answer

    don't quite understand the question

If your referring to chat shows ect i believe the original question was "Has a show he starred in (as a regular) been nominated for an Emmy in the last 10 years?"

As that is the only question referring to nominations so far

edit: Reread the question, yes it would count but irrelevant in this case ;)

John lithgow ticks several boxes as far as i can tell. Anyone know if theres any gaps ive missed that might invalidate him?

He also appears to be one of a select handful whove managed to not appear ibthe big bang theory :)

I think he hosted and also had a recurring role playing bernie saunders

Any thoights on last question folks. I think it might be useful to either ask about awards for theatre or as a writer/director. Happy to take a group steer though

I'm completely stumped with this one so I'll leave it up to others to decide. I don't really know what approach would help whittle the options down a bit. Asking a question about if he had a role as a writer/director could help I guess.
