Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Maternity Benefit (2nd Child)

My wife is pregnant with our second. She is only returning from first baby mat leave in a couple of weeks time, there will be 15 mths between babies.

Trying to decipher department criteria for maternity benefit... Does her 26 weeks mat benefit count as a credited PRSI contribution? Her employer didn't top up her pay.

Basically getting a little over whether she will qualify for maternity benefit for second child as due to unpaid leave at the end of first mat leave, getting 26 weeks back at work is unlikely.

Second question, the citizens advice website mentions there may be increases for a child dependent?

Yes Maternity benefit gives PRSI contributions. And if she took unpaid leave there is a form she should give her employer to complete to send to social protection which would give her credits for the unpaid leave she took.

Increases for dependents depend on family income as far as I know so would probably depend on what you’re earning. No harm in filling it out anyway and they’ll work out if you’re entitled to extra or not.

I'd suspect I'm earning too much, but will take a look. Thanks for the reply.
