Great idea lads. Looks and functions really well. Obviously it won't be that accurate but it'll give an indication and will also be a look at the younger generation's attitudes and voting preferences. Can't wait until the PR-STV comes into it.

It's a pity we don't have nationwide broadband isn't it? Maybe it would be more accurate then if more people in rural areas could access it! :P

Brilliant stuff - well done to everyone who designed this

    Looks great but....

Clare has 12 candidates, but there are only 9 on the ballot. I'll save my vote until this is corrected. :D

Over 2500 votes already, would I be right in thinking this would be far superior to any opinion polls?

    Great work Boards.....;)

It's interesting that the percentages so far are within a percent or two of official polls so far, except FF and Labour - with FF understated by ~7/8% and Labour overstated by the same versus the other polls.
The prefs will be very interesting

Waiting for the upsurge in membership just to vote by the party workers...;_)

At 9.15pm FG have 68 seats and FF have 5. I'm sure Enda Kenny would love the vote to take place now.

Is there any chance of a daily track of projected seats at a certain time each day. Probably not scientific but good none the less.

On election day polls close at 10.00pm, so maybe that might be the cut off time every day.

    For now;

    FG - 68
    FF - 5
    LAB - 50
    SF - 24
    ULA - 4
    IND - 10
    GP - 1

How can you possibly work that out without knowing the transfers?

Out of interest, why would you put them in that order? Surely it would either make sense to do it in order of seats ie:

    FG: 68
    LAB: 50
    SF: 24
    IND: 10
    FF: 5
    ULA: 4
    GP: 1

    Or alphabetical:

    FF: 5
    FG: 68
    GP: 1
    IND: 10
    LAB: 50
    SF: 24
    ULA: 4

Sorry for being pedantic :o You did a good job there, but I see no order in your list!

\edit: I presume you're basing this just on 1st preferences also?

Hi, in the Mayo constituency - you are missing Lisa Chambers (FF)

The anorak tendancy in me just went through the 43 constituencies. As the PR element has not come in to play yet, it was the first candidates for each constituency.

Yes 1st preference until the PR element comes in to play. Then It'll be like watching TV trying to work out who will transfer to who.

The system for listing is just a slight reversal of how opinion graphics show, with FF and FG revearsed.

If you look through the constituencies though, FF are lagging well behind in a lot of them. Thats fine by me, but I just can't see them doing as bad on the day.

Some of the protesting FF voters most likely voted FF on the 3rd-5th preference but considering some of the very low 1st preference counts on FF candidates so far they might not be around to benefit.

For some reason 7 people gave Dan Boyle their No. 1 to put him in joint 5th in Cork South Central.

How did you sort candidates that had the same score for the last seat?

There is a candidate on the Carlow/Kilkenny constituency voting section and I checked his profile as he is an independent - it says he is standing in Cavan/Monaghan - Jonathan Rainey.

Its a pretty cool survey and worth doing from a boards.ie point of view, but it will be wholly inaccurate when compared to the actual election results - demographics, its all about demographics.. or the lack of a variety of demographics on the Internet

I stand corrected but the list of candidates for Meath East is incorrect. There are posters all over my area of Gerry Adams and Fergus O'Dowd. As far as I know the boundries have been changed and we are now in the Drogheda area. I haven't decided who to vote for as yet, I don't know any of these guys and no one has called to my door yet!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,871 ✭✭✭Corsendonk

Yeap Julianstown is now in Louth as is the Meath Riveria under the new boundary changes.

Celebrity candidate, you get them in each election. You would think that FG would have learn't from George Lee. Anyway isn't Fitzpatrick ex army? Enda might need a bodyguard to protect him from the Vincent Browne.

I think it would be a good idea if under profile, there was a list of the candidate's election policies/promises. It'd be handy for the ones I'm less familiar with. Just a thought, worth what ye paid for it. ;)
