Anyone have recommendations for an alarm system (mainly wired if possible)?

Anything that has features like 'Nest Secure' or 'Ring Alarm'...would be ideal...

The HKC system seems to tick the boxes but .... I hear a lot of complains about the app etc...? (The app looks so dated as well!)

Non of the traditional alarm systems are well integrated with modern home automation systems.

Siemens SPC actually does have some options to integrate with Home Assistant and some other HA systems, but definitely a DIY, geeky setup and not for the faint of heart, so depends on your abilities.

Cytech Comfort is another system with integration with HA tech, again that side is DIY, but might be hard to get in Ireland.

If you want to go down the DIY route, there are some options, but they are all wireless.

HKC has no official integration with modern HA tech.

Integration between alarms and HA tech is pretty new, immature and developing segment.

Siemens SPC would be the nearest with some integration

Other than that GSD are the only other system I know that is looking at Alexa integration.

You would be better off asking here if you IOT is your thing: https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1777

Siemens is not the nearest thing. It has some great features and a web access portal giving access to sensor states.

It might be the nearest thing a particular supplier is familiar with or installs. Sometimes it depends on who you are speaking to.

There are systems with official mesh network interrogation cards, not just hacks.

Again users need to be mindful that a lot of the advice given here is from professional installers commercially aligned with companies and products.

Again pushing for iot capability might compromise security features or leave you with a system needing a lot of maintenance something to consider if you are not handy with these technologies.

You will be advised to shop around by many. I'd add in that reading up on systems capability, maintenance etc is very important.
