    One of Ireland's great professionals, Eamonn Darcy bowed out of professional golf in fine style at the Costa Blanca Senior Masters at Meliã Villait with a final ever professional round of five under par.
    Darcy, who turned professional in 1968 and among many career highlights holed the winning putt for Europe in the 1987 Ryder Cup as they won for the first time on American soil, closed with a round of 67, just one shot shy of shooting his age, 66 as he drew his stellar career to a close.

    Remarkable!
    • He turned pro aged 16 and has been pro for 50 years
    • Still shoots 67 at age 66
    Probably his biggest disappointment is never having his own thread on this forum!

    I wasn’t aware of this, wish him a happy retirement. Always loved Eamonn, such an idiosyncratic swing but his fellow pros always lauded his shotmaking. “Like a sheepdog with a sore paw settling down by the fire,” was how the late Christy jnr described the way his approach shots landed. Had a way with words did Christy.

    Eamon Darcy has traveled the world playing golf and played in multiple international team events .

    He wouldn't have a chance in the amateur game .

    As for winter league.

    Eamo take up knitting or chess .
