Shankill as a place to buy family home

    Interested in peoples views. Anyone know the area well. Seems to tick a lot of boxes, by the sea, on the dart, nice village, appears to retain country feel. However it appears they are approved to build 500 units - mostly affordable and social units in Shanganagh Castle site. Could this impact current house values. All opinions and feedback welcome. What are schools like. Any comparable areas that offer good value to raise young children. Much appreciated

    Thanks - also interested in views from property / investment perspective given future social development plans. Is there any risk that as the area has green space relative to surrounding areas -could become a focus for building large amounts of social housing. Larger more established areas will scream louder and have more power to veto large scale development. They have to put social housing somewhere so could this area be an easy option....to meet targets in scd

    There's a local area plan for Woodbrook Shanganagh and one in production for Old Conna. Almost 5k housing units between both locations. Also consider the proposed #13 Core Bus Corridor which could rip the heart out of Shankill.

    There a Possible LUAS expansion, a town centre and 40000 people living up in cherrywood.

    It’s in the Dart and beside the sea.
    I can only see property holding value with the overall market or increasing as more infrastructure is added
