Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

There are a few articles in the papers today about how few "affordable" houses have been built to date this year. Apparently only 163 social housing units have been completed this year. Lets say 163 of these houses have been completed up until now, this means 244 for the total year. So of the 80,000 houses to be completed this year, 244 of them will be affordable! Apparently what is happening is that all the property developers are buying out their duty to have 20% of houses be "affordable". That’s right, they can give money or land to the local authorities to side step the various social housing initiatives that are out there. After all no developer wants to have the value of their houses lowered by poor people moving in next door! Think of the smell and noise as they strip car engines in the front garden until the small hours!

So this means that instead of the 80% or so unaffordable housing promise we had 2 years ago it is now floating around the 99.7% unaffordable mark! That’s right, 0.3% of the total houses built in Ireland this year will be "affordable". Start queuing now as I think they are going to go mighty quick!

and we wonder why we can't afford to buy a house!
