Hi all, am trying and enjoying making more of an effort to dress well lately on my days off from work as my work wardrobe is far from fashionable, practical all the way. I'd love to wear skirts more but shoes are always a dilemma for me. I'm a mother of 3 so pottering around in heels just doesn't work. For example what would u fashionable girls wear with a midi pleated skirt as a daytime look with a soft knit jumper?

Definitely check out The Style Fairy, she wears a lot of outfits like you're describing https://www.instagram.com/the_style_fairy/

I would suggest white trainers such as Converse low tops or Adidas Gazelle, or a pair of loafers. Another option would be brogues.

Ecco & Clark's both have some really nice trainer style shoes and loafer styles with good proper soles if you're looking for comfort for all the running around you do!

I wear jumper and pleated skirt often. Runners don't work for me with that outfit but I wear kitten heel mules in summer or shoes with mid height block heel. In winter it's knee high boots all the way. Runners look well on taller women or slim women.

It really depends on skirt lenght, your height and size. I'm size 10 and 5'5" and for whatever reason I look two sizes bigger if I don't wear a bit of heel with midi skirts.

I think runners work great with longer skirts, minis or cropped trousers.

This has been a real dilemma for me recently with the slightly warmer weather. I like Twee’s suggestion of Converse, and I’ve been looking into getting a few pairs of wedges or espadrilles for when I want something slightly heeled but walkable.

I have never liked brogues but I got a grey / silver pair in penneys, they go with everything and are soooo comfy
