Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Best New Irish Band has got to be Waterfords
    The Dead Heavys

Everybody in the Nite is some choon. There's a video they apparently made in that they made in some burnt out hotel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_yuQBfyYNI

Saw them live and they were deadly. Think they're playin in Dublin soon.

Can anyone recommend me some Spoken Wordy/Hip-Hop type music?

As in not purely Spoken Word on its own, I need a beat.

Someone like Scroobius Pip perhaps. This is exactly what I'm looking for:

For stuff similar to The Beatles you should check out The Byrds, Love, The Kinks and Big Star. All essential bands.

I'm not familiar with the others.

I'm not very good at finding artists that I like. Sometimes I'll stumble across a singer or band that I really like and I'll listen to them. I don't have a really strong dislike of any kind of music but my favourite artists are Regina Spektor, The Smashing Pumpkins, Placebo and I like a few songs by Two Door Cinema Club, anyone with any suggestions of artists that are somewhat similar to those?

For stuff similar to the Pumpkins and Placebo you should check out JJ72, Pixies, My Vitriol, Silversun Pickups, Starflyer 59, Mew and Sonic Youth. If you haven't already of course.

Can anyone recommend a singer/band similar to City and Colour?
To be more specific, similar to his powerful voice with an acoustic guitar

If you listen to music on youtube, you could try seevl.net which is a great youtube plug-in for discovering new music. For example you can search by genre, labels or specific artists. It also provides you with personal recommendations.

My old collection is in need of some updating, a lot of it is old stuff. Recommendations would be welcome, preferably bands/someone fairly new-ish and/or 'current'. More female artists too!

    Here's what I have already.

The radio version of this sounds more like an old Elton John track, yet Hozier is a good current Irish singer/band.

Whereas London Grammar are from er . . London . . I'd imagine.

A great website for finding musis similar to your tastes is Music Map. You just put in who you like and it gives a list of bands very similar, a little less similar etc.

Some great new bands I've found recently are:
    The Weeknd
    Jai Paul
    Mount Kimbie
    Feist

Ok folks, little help. I'm after getting a serious love for Tove Lo - Stay High feat Hippie Sabotage. I'm wondering what style it is exactly, as I'm looking for other tunes like it (deep bass notes, not a load of lyrics). I've been looking at deep house mixes, but I may as well be staring into a field of thistles.

I'd suggest checking out Flume - especially his stuff with Chet Faker, they've collaborated a few times.

    Other than that I'd say

    Flight Facilities

    The Aston Shuffle

Let me know if you want more based on that.

I would suggest following some of your favorite bands on Spotify and you will be able to see what they are listening to. I also am really liking The New Division, Phantogram, and The Naked and Famous.

I dont see any 80's sub forum but some of you might like this one, it was in the 1983 move Valley Girl. Should have been an 80's Anthem but I dont remember it.

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer
