Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Might be useful to have a thread for people to post photos or links to photos from the great outdoors.

Photos from Adventure race taken on Croaghanmoira with fab and clear views around Wicklow and the south last Saturday are here

Saw the rare sight of Slievenmon on the horizon down south whilst hanging out on the peak. Didn't have a suitable lense though to pick it up..

I'm tempted to say that's Bundoran, but I'm not entirely sure.

Fair play SJ, great photos, you must have been hours on that hill.
What a fantastic day, views for miles around. Pity it's not like that all the time in Wicklow.

I'm in about 5 of your photos.
1 is a rear view (I'd know that bald spot anywhere) strangely in two I'm taking photos myself (competitor or tourist ??) and even more strangely in the other two I'm smiling. Smiling at the top of Croaghanmoira, weird or what ?? :D

Yes straight up the Great Gully. Topping out was a bit hairy as the snow texture suddenly changed and wasn't as solid as the rest of the climb. Not often you get days like these in the Irish hills. Here's hoping for another white winter!

A few from the start of the year.
A bloody cold day out at Luggala.

Getting off the minivan, and the shock from the heated van to the cold first thing in the morning wasn't sitting right with everyone.
    17870_450826665639_357076955639_10821177_3134090_n.jpg

So we head off down the valley, picturesque as always.
    17870_450826680639_357076955639_10821178_8008404_n.jpg
    17870_450826700639_357076955639_10821181_220468_n.jpg

    Heading towards the mountain.
    17870_450826755639_357076955639_10821185_5110120_n.jpg

But we stopped to figure out what we were doing for the day.
More a day of getting people use to map reading than a big day out.
    17870_450826840639_357076955639_10821194_7885357_n.jpg

And up the boulder field it was.
    Nice way up the mountain.
    17870_450826880639_357076955639_10821200_2021085_n.jpg

Loose rocks and the ice from the night before made this a slow one up the rocks.
    17870_450826935639_357076955639_10821204_519498_n.jpg
    17870_450826955639_357076955639_10821205_4388339_n.jpg

Hard to see it really, but this turned into a bit of a white out as we were in the gully.
    17870_450826970639_357076955639_10821207_3369503_n.jpg

    View from the top.
    17870_450827025639_357076955639_10821212_5469758_n.jpg

    SNOW!
    17870_450827110639_357076955639_10821219_2715246_n.jpg
It was deceivingly deep in a few spots.
    17870_450827075639_357076955639_10821215_5134991_n.jpg

As some one was feeling sick, we hard to cut our day short here and head back to the van, a nice day untill then.
