Odd thing happened here the past 45 minutes...after a sunny morning on this slightly southeast facing area the temp had risen to +1c; then some high cloud in the west blocked the sun and the slight breeze died down, while overhead it remained clear and the temp dropped back to -0.8c between 10.45 and 11.30!

Can't recall that happening before.

Superb day here in Tralee today , sunshine , calm , birdsong that would stop you in your tracks, got up to 9.7C and currently 6.5C. Had to remind myself that Spring is a long way off yet

Heavy frost "on untreated surfaces" as they say on the forecasts...but to be fair to DL Co Co there are hardly ever any untreated roads; they treat the roads here about 3 times for every night that frost/ice actually occurs!

The temptation to save some money by taking a chance must be fairly high....

Currently +0.2c, was earlier tonight down to -2.1c, everywhere frozen, clear sky, almost calm.

Quiet, calm, still, dry early morning up here in the South Kerry mountains, around 400 ft above sea level. Heard some gusts and falls in the night and all is awash with mud. Off soon on my travels into West Cork.. over the hills and far away, literally.. Kenmare then the Caha Pass to Bantry and beyond.. will see if any snow has survived as yesterday the mountains were heavily veiled.
