Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If you signed up for the 1c Screenclick offer, don't forget to cancel your account if you don't want to be charged full membership!

    It is what it's.

Sully04 I think ScreenClick say to get a Certificate of Posting, you can get one free at the post office counter.

Oh right, whats that all about then? This is what they told me:-
We advise a proof of postage to be to be filled out by you and stamped by a Post Office clerk. to guarantee no further charge will be taken , as sometimes DVDs can get delayed or go missing.

ha i sent mine back then bout a week later (27th dec) i emailed them telling them i had no outstanding dvds and i would like them to terminate my account immediatly. They replied within 15hours (overnight) with a very nice email stating that my request was completed. no trouble at all. Well done screenclick!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 129 ✭✭KC81

i last recieved a dvd from screenclick on the 24th of november. I sent it back within a few days and didnt recieve anything since. They are still saying that they havent got it. I tried cancelling my account by ringing them and was constantly on hold. Since emailing them I have been told they can't cancel my account unless i have proof that i posted the last dvd back. I didnt register the post because i actually expected another dvd before i would have to cancel my account.

Still have a DVD left here, so I guess I'll be charged for January which is no big deal

I cancelled early December - then a week later they sent me a DVD! Odd, since my online a/c was disabled.

i cancelled my subscription before the offer expired. i also posted the last dvd back, i checked my rental history and it says the last dvd was not returned. I am just wondering if anyone has experience of this. Will I have to pay for the missing dvd, will it be expensive?
    thanks

I want to stay with Screenclick and therefore did not cancel my sub once the offer was over. However my last DVD was returned on 2.1.07 and to date the next DVD has not been posted out. I chased them my email - no reply. Phoned them their voice mail box is full. Any one else in same situation

Maybe none of the titles in your list are currently available?

    GRRRRRRRRRR

I was on this offer. I waited until the last DVD was returned (and recorded on their system as being returned) before phoning to cancel. All before 20 Dec.

I checked my credit card online this morning - a €14.99 charge for screenclick dated 04 JAN 2007. Phoned a landline number and got a message that their mailbox is full.

    Mailed them for a refund.

    .. waiting ..

    GRRRRRRRRRR

i have also been charged....think i will have to get credit card company to do a charge back, as i cancelled the account in good time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,034 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Cancelled mine about a fortnight ago with proof of postage gotten with last DVD..

.. got an e-mail from them a day or two later saying it was cancelled. Can't complain... but shame to see other people having problems here.

With regards to being charged.. as long as you got the proof of postage with the last DVD sent back to them, you'll be refunded. If you didn't.. then tough (.)(.)! (they're breasts, not eyes!)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 752 ✭✭✭Lorax

I returned my last dvd in WELL enough time, sent it by registered post and used the online tracker to show it had been returned to them. Yet my credit card was STILL charged €14.99 on 5th January 2007

    ****ING Terrible service.

I would strongly recommend that NOBODY use screenclick, they will keep charging your credit card even after you quite CLEARLY cancel your account. And I am not the only 1 this is happened to.

I am outraged. Gonna have to contact my banks credit card department and get the money refunded. Because they are ignoring my emails asking to refund the money.

  • Registered Users Posts: 316 ✭✭konline

Me too. I closed my account and my rental history shows that I sent all DVDs. I still was charged 14.99 euro. Waiting for a reply from Screenclick.

I guess there will be lot of cases like us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,995 ✭✭✭✭blorg

I was charged also, so look forward to arguing with them over that one! Thing is, I would have stayed with them had the service not been so mind-bogglingly slow (and I was a subscriber in the past, maybe a year ago, and it was not slow then; there have been threads on the slowness before.)

The last DVD was "sent" on the 11 Dec and I cancelled shortly thereafter but I didn't actually get it until the new year. Sent it back immediately, but charged 14.99 on the 4th.

I honestly think they really screwed up this promotion badly.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 752 ✭✭✭Lorax

I agree. Terrible service I would advise everyone to avoid them like the plague.

No, doesn't show up anywhere in my account. Same with my rental history there's nothing there at all. Yet the registered post tracker proves they received it. They are dodgy ****ers I'm very pissed off they have my credit card details.

I got my credit card statement today. Was charged €14.99 as well even though I returned my last DVD before christmas. My account says the DVD was received on the 2nd of January. This is highly unlikely even with the sometimes rubbish postal service. To further rub salt in the wounds the account status is "expired" so they are charging me for a service they are not even providing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,572 ✭✭✭savemejebus

Cancelled my account on 7th of november, they then sent me another DVD, I returned this when it arrived on the 8th. Checked my CC account and what do you know, 14.99 taken. Was well annoyed. Contacted screenclick by email and tried phoning but no joy. So then I contacted my CC company, complained, sent my cancellation email and they are doing a chargeback.

2 days later I get a canned email from screenclick saying I'd cancelled my account too late. Don't think they even bothered reading my email. Brutal customer service, would never reccomend this company to anyone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,034 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Agreed about terrible customer service... MovieStar's customer service is fantastic though. Quick, helpful and polite... like all customer support services should be! *

    * take note Eircom..!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,572 ✭✭✭savemejebus

weird, the company that is legit have brutal customer service while the company that is allegedly run by scammers and are allegedly using non-rental merch. has good customer service. The world is truly topsy turvy

for sure. i complained via email too and then they give me some smarmy response about how it is all my fault even though i cancelled on time. they are a joke and i think this promotion is a huge mistake from them as i will never say a good word about them. from the looks of this i wont be alone

If you have the proof of postage showing the date you returned the last DVD, getting a chargeback on your credit card should be straight forward.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 291 ✭✭pokerwidow

Sorry to hear about the service but thanks for the warning. I was just about to sign up but I said I would check here first. I will sign up for Movie Star and hope they are not as bad.

I stuck with them after my trial finished and hve no complaints about the service. Get an average of two a week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,465 ✭✭✭MOH

Has anyone succesfully had this charge reversed?

BTW, looks like they've been taken over

Yes, oddly while I was using the service there was never any problem with posting the DVDs. Returned DVDs would be received by them within a day, and the next one sent out the next day. Nobody ever mentioned the need to get proof of posting at that stage - if you had to do that for every DVD you sent back then the service wouldn't be worth using.

However once I emailed to cancel my account I got a note back telling me I should get proof of postage of my last DVD. Of course by this stage I had already sent the thing back. This rang my alarm bells and I wasn't entirely surprised to find I'd been charged on my credit card.

I asked them to remove the charge and I got a suspiciously comprehensive email about DVDs going missing in the post. I'm not going to take this one lying down.

Our last one was allegedly posted out to us on Dec 14th. We mailed them of the 21st to tell them it hadn't arrived, and cancel. They then brought up the "proof of postage" condition. It arrived on Dec 23rd, couldn't find an open post office until the 29th, and allegedly didn't get back to Screenclick until Jan 2nd. 14.99 charge.

The ironic thing is that if I'd kept the last DVD and left it as 'lost in post' they wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

I wouldn't mind but I recommended them to loads of people. Grrr.

I cancelled them because I was only getting 1 DVD per week on average. If I had been getting 2 then I might have thought about keeping them on but probably not as I think that they were too slow getting new releases.

I had just posted back my last DVD before I cancelled the week before Xmas and got the eamail about the certificate of posting.. Luckily it showed as having been received by them on 28/12/06 so I guess I had a pretty close shave.

Bit difficult to return DVDs that they claim they've posted but you haven't received yet.

    I cancelled in November.
Credit card is showing up 2 payments.

One on the 4th January for 14.99.
And one for 8th January for 14.99.

The ****** even sent me an email confirming closure of account but I deleted it.

    I sent them an email.
I am waiting on a reply.

What can I do if I have not got the confirmation closure email?
