Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Unwanted World Records for Irish Womens' Cricket Team

Ouch! A comprehensive trouncing for the Irish women versus New Zealand women in an ODI today. And a couple of unwanted world records as well.

    Scores were:

Black Ferns: 490/4 from 50 overs
Irish women: 134/9 (Izzy Joyce was absent injured so couldn't bat)

    World Records:

490 for 4 is the highest score made in all ODIs (male and female). [The highest total in men's ODI cricket is 444 for 3 posted by England against Pakistan in Nottingham in 2016.]

119 Runs conceded by Ireland's Cara Murray in her 10 overs is the most by any bowler in an ODI. [Previous worst was Australia's Mick Lewis who went for 113 against South Africa at Wanderers in 2006. At least Murray got 2 wickets, Mick Lewis got none!]

Masochists and expat Kiwis may wsh to note that this was the first of a 3 game ODI series. The next game is on the 10th June in Milverton Oval (home of the Hills CC).

Game two went in much the same way as game one had:-

    New Zealand Women 418/10

    Irish Women 112/10

NZ Women win by 306 runs.

At it again today, lost by 305 in the closest game of the series

At it again today, lost by 305 in the closest game of the series

A 17 year old kiwi, Amelia Kerr, scored 232 not out, the most ever runs by a player in a women's one day international.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Some little bit of consolation is that NZ set another few records today against South Africa in a t20, they are obviously on fire at the moment

And England's women just beat that record a few hours later against the same opponents
