Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Client is rejecting my log-in too mate, I think it's just down to the fact the site is down for maintenance. If you're able to log into your EA master account with the same info everything is fine.

    https://www.ea.com/profile/login

It's not the client unfortunately, it's swtor.com itself. I've had an email from them saying to phone to get it unlocked. Will try it on Saturday and fingers crossed they have people working.

I had that happen, and it unlocked itself after a while - though that was during beta madness

    Re: Early Access
    http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=724314

    "Hello everyone,

We're happy to finally announce today that Early Game Access begins December 13th, 2011. This means that everyone who has pre-ordered Star Wars: The Old Republic and redeemed their pre-order code will have up to seven days to play the game early.

As before, when your Early Game Access begins will be determined based on when you redeemed your pre-order code. You will be emailed on the day you are being admitted to Early Game Access to confirm you can now access the game.

Early Game Access was extended to seven days to allow us to gradually ramp up the number of people in the game over a longer period. This allows us to ensure maximum stability and a good population across servers. It also allows us to have more flexibility on exactly how many people we admit per day.

With that said, we're still planning on allowing a large number of people into Early Game Access on a daily basis. In our final Beta Testing Weekends, we had hundreds of thousands of players on the game servers - and we have additional server capacity for launch. However, we still need to remain flexible during Early Game Access, and this led to the decision to notify people on the day that their Early Game Access begins.

We know many of you expected and wanted advance notice on Early Game Access, but we made this decision to ensure that we could remain flexible and react to unforseen issues during launch. Our number one priority has always been a smooth launch, so this decision was a necessity.

The good news is that effectively everyone is being given two 'extra bonus' days as the EGA program is now up to seven days long. The bad news is unfortunately we cannot let people know on an individual basis when they will gain access until we are ready.

We do understand that you are concerned about when you will receive the email. To save your F5 keys, as well as being notified by email, you will also be able to check the Launcher for Star Wars: The Old Republic. When you have been granted Early Game Access, your Play button will be enabled. (You will need to restart the Launcher on occasion if you're still grey.) Finally, you will be able to login to your account page here on SWTOR.com and check your status.

We absolutely understand (and appreciate!) everyone's eagerness to play, but this plan will ensure that we don't fall at the final hurdle - bringing people into the game at launch. We hope you'll bear with us as we gradually grant Early Game Access to everyone who pre-ordered.

Figured as much, but it's still good news for everyone who preordered.

What happens if you preordered the game from gamestop?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,566 ✭✭✭ZeitgeistGlee

What do you mean specifically mate? When you get access is dependent on when you attached your preorder code to your account, the earlier the more. Who you bought it from doesn't matter.

I preordered mine from gamestop 1 or 2 months back and never got a preorder code

Then you are SOL in getting in a good few days early, i would ring gamestop and let them know you didn't get a code. If you add a code real fast you should still get a few days in game :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,566 ✭✭✭ZeitgeistGlee

Ah, well that's a screw-up on their part mate. You should've either got a game case containing your preorder code or it should've been printed on the receipt when you paid the €5/€20 deposit depending on whether you bought a regular edition or a collectors edition. You did have to pay a deposit right?

Seriously excited. So glad that I stopped playing WOW 8 or so months ago and completely ignored anything to do with swtor. I didnt even know this game existed tbh! If I'd have known I'd be waiting a loooooong time raging at the time I've spent waiting. :pac:

Beta lived up to my expectations, so I'm not holding out for crushing. =p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,566 ✭✭✭ZeitgeistGlee

It didn't live up to 100% of my expectations but frankly unless it had a five-hundred million dollar budget, Luceno and Stover supervising the writing team and BioWare and Mythic's best doing beyond their best possible work for the entire five years then it probably never was. :o

What we did get was a fantastically polished end product which makes excellent use of the IP to create a very enjoyable game which most players will fall straight into without issues. There are some aspects of class balance which need work but I very much doubt anyone is up for "crushing disappointment".

At level10, you need to choose a surname basically. That name will be used for all future alts on the same server. I think you can get Legacy xp as well, with certain benefits to your characters. As suggested on another forum, if i was in on day 1, i'd definitely have a Smuggler names Malcom, and then select the Legacy name or Reynolds.

    With the Captain title :P

    James Kirk would also work...

Indeed. Here's the text of the mail:
Early Game Access* will begin on December 13th at 7:00AM EST, 2011 and ends on December 19th, 2011 at 10:01PM EST. During this time, we will be emailing invitations to join Early Game Access based on the order in which you redeemed your Pre-Order Code. Pre-load the game client now, so you're ready to play when your Early Game Access invitation arrives. Note that download time can vary and may take awhile.

Log in, then go here and on the right go to 'Pre-Order' and stick the code in.

[edit] It may be under the 'code redemption' rather than 'pre order' can't remember.

They did, he probably thought his email was his entry time. the 13th is when the early access starts if you read the email you will see that does not mean you are guaranteed in on the 13th.

It's not level 10, it's at the end of Act 1, so when you finish your class quests on Tatooine and Alderaan. (which will be the 5th and 6th planets respectively) Should be at about level 30.

I'll be going with "Kanet", as it's surname for Main character (Lol, I r RPfag)

I'm torn on the legacy surname to be honest. On the one side 3 of my 4 Republic characters all have the same surname and therefore it's very handy to be able to grab it if I can. On the other hand I wish you'd just been able to give a unique surname to each character, being able to reuse ones you've already chosen before.

I don't know what I'm going to play. So many fun choices and not damage meters to determine the be all spec (I kinda like this).

I was thinking something ranged since I always play melee and am a little bored of it. BH Merc looks good. Tried Imp Agent Sniper in beta but wasn't sure on cover system.

I'm not sure of the claims that all dps specs are pave viable. Concealment spec stands out as one that wouldn't be viable though there is only pvp footage on YouTube. Infact swtor class forums is all pvp talk. I didn't realise pvp is so popular now

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,880 ✭✭✭Raphael

Each Advanmced class has at least 2 DPS Specs, I think one is generally more PvP oriented.

Maybe I'll just go melee to be safe. I know how to tank and dps. Could go juggernaut, maurader or assassin.

Assassin seems cool as it looks like a feral Druid broke down into separate bear/kitty trees. Also I loved stealth when playing a rogue in wow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,946 ✭✭✭red_ice

Sweet, my beta client seems to be a 15mb file away from playable :)

So whats up with duel specs?

How will ATT function in the first few days of this? When I log in for the first time I wanna know what server I should be on etc - I REALLY dont want to have to start again on another server :s

<edit>Download complete, robot noises made so I'm ready to log in :]</edit>

Dual-specs are expected to make an appearance after launch but won't be there right away, same as the system to replace chest matching.

    Chest matching?

It was a System to match the colour to you chest plate armour you wore so th at all bit would match instead of the wow clown look

    That's a great idea

Indeed it was, but apparently BioWare felt it took away from the enjoyment of watching your gear progress if you didn't gush over the fact these new boots looked slightly different to your old ones so they removed it. Never mind that more than 95% of beta testers told them not to, and when it got to the regular forums 95% of the posters there agreed with the beta testers, apparently BioWare knows what we want better than we do. (I'd make a comment about epeening WoW kiddies but meh)

Now we get to run around looking like hobos with our mismatched suits at launch because there's no chest-matching, dye system or alternate appearance tab to help unify a character's look. As I said, there is a system coming to replace it but as usual BioWare say they can't give out even a rough estimate of when that might be because they don't like deadlines.

There is the mod system I suppose but that's really not anywhere near a proper customisation system and does if I recall correctly require you to either be or have access to a high level armor crafter.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,880 ✭✭✭Raphael

It doesn't really - once you find a nice moddable set, you can just pop the mods out of anything (other than purples) that you find and put them into it - it's what I'll be doing.

www.darthhater.com is probably the 'main' fansite. They've actually just put up an interview they did here with a guild that managed to clear the first raid in beta. I haven't watched it yet, but it's an hour long so should give you some idea of how end game stuff plays out.

Is that just purples though or purples and above Raph? (Didn't play high enough to use beyond blues in mod gear) If it's the latter you're essentially forcing people to choose between the look they like vs better bonuses.

I don't know, for me, coming from WAR where there was both dyes and an alternate appearance feature back in 2010 it just seems unbelievable that TOR haven't managed to do the same and improve it yet again. And the one thing they did do which everyone liked was removed because BioWare effectively felt their work wasn't being appreciated outside of "Oh, higher stats". I really enjoyed the game when I was playing it, but the more critically I look at from a mechanical point of view there just seems to be a lot of standard features missing.

There's nothing above purples at the moment, and you can pop most of the mods out of purples - everything but the armouring/barrel/hilt. And you can get those mods crafted elsewhere.
