Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Cool! I took a picture of Lug early on Sunday and there was a little fluffy cloud sitting on its summit. I was wondering if there was white stuff underneath.

Yep, that's Camaderry alright .. you can clearly see the patch of Scots pines on the left of the picture that you go past when coming up it from Glendalough.

Its been a few months since I last posted some pictures. Life here is good, every weekend feels like a holiday. I am starting to understand why a lot of Canadians here never see the need to get a passport. They work to live, rather than live to work.

Anyway, here's a selection of pictures from the last few months. Winter has slowly, very slowly, left us now and summer is finally here.

With the incredible access here it has allowed us to progress extremely quickly towards becoming proficient as full Mountaineers. This time last year I would of still viewed a hike like the Glendalough loop as challenging. Now, we are at a stage where we can safely handle moderate to difficult exposure and Class 4 climbing/downclimbing unroped. We are learning our knots and proper roping techniques now and before the next winter is out we should be capable of doing long glacier expeditions with steep couloir ascents to summits.

Good eye. It's actually the MSR Mutha Hubba. It's a 3 person. We use extra wide/long sleeping pads, so with those inflated we have a comfortable amount of space to sleep through the night, with a bit of space on the sides for our stuff sacks and packs. Fitting 3 people into this tent would be like sardines imo.

It's only a 3 season but we've used it through the winter here without issue. The only thing I'd be worried about with it would be snowfall. It wouldn't hold up under a lot of snow. This coming winter we will be migrating to a system whereby we will be digging T-shaped snow caves to sleep.

I have the hubba hubba and it is a bit cramped for 2 people but not too bad. i was just interested how you found it in the snow.

post up some pics of the snow caves when you do it, sounds interesting!!

Yeah, it was a truly awesome day in Waterford. We climbed like a 50m WI3+ or so, in 2 pitches. Thick solid ice, well protected by ice screws all the way. We then climbed the final steep ice of Mahon falls. Glendalough didn't freeze up half as well. The ice was thin, but still took screws.

The temperature changed rapidly that week and I'm sure it all returned to normal in just a few days. Here's hoping for another cold one this year.

Change of pace, here's a video of a north face couloir ascent I did recently.

    Here's the video:

    http://vimeo.com/33472356

I took this photo from a neighboring peak we ascended to get some beta on our route. It's the wide gully that leads up from the lower right of this image.

Always enjoy your photos mate. Was in Vancouver last July visiting friends on our way to Alaska. We ran up the Grouse Grind, and did some cycling around the park, our flight to Alaska took us up over BC and teh scenery looked amazing, would love to spend a year there, just hiking and climbing, and hiking some more, beautiful place!

Oh man, the Grouse Grind. It's known locally as the "Gross" Grind. Given how expansive the BC Coast mountains are and how easy access is to a lot of them the mind boggles that so many people repetitively huff up and down that grind in the trees with a nice view of Gondola pylons at the top. Still it's a rite of passage. I've done it once, never again.

Would love to head up to Alaska, have my sights set on doing Denali in the next few years.

Here's a picture from last weekend, Ice Climbing practice a few hours drive North of Vancouver

It was all a DIY job. We booked our own flights with BA, hired a car and toured around. I had a route and itinerary all planned out in advance with some activities booked, and we just went and did it!

Best holiday of my life, amazing place, would love to go back

Sounds great. :) Did you just drop into Anchorage and go from there, then?
