Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So it seems that the benji Marshall experiment with the blues has failed.

Both Kirwan and Marshall have agreed that things haven't worked out and Marshall has looked to get a release from his contract.

    http://m.smh.com.au/rugby-union/union-news/benji-marshall-seeks-return-to-nrl-20140421-zqxdz.html

Never thought he would make the successful jump to union from league. His defence is extremely weak and didn't have the tactical kicking game to be able to control a match.

Toys out of the pram? He's only been at Blues for a cup of coffee!

Toys out of the pram? He's only been at Blues for a cup of coffee!

The fact he said in almost every interview and I paraphrase "I just wasn't that motived (presumably about the game in general) the last couple of seasons (with West Tigers)" might come back to haunt him.

The dampest of damp squibs. Not even viagra could help his limp performances.

When you see players like Anscombe & Fekitoa forced to look elsewhere, and then Marshall recruited for megabucks, Qs should be (and are being) asked.

Thankfully there's Israel Folau to restore faith in league converts...

Rumours resurfacing of Gareth Anscombe being whisked off to Wales (Cardiff Blues, where the Canes Mark Hammett is rumoured to get the coaching gig) to solve Gatland's flyhalf issues. Unlike other Kiwis being targeted, Gareth is actually Welsh through his Mum, so no need to play 3 years of Welsh domestic rugby while awaiting the international call-up. IMO he's a (much) better FB than 10, but with Halfpenny presumably having a mortgage on the 15 shirt, he could well be targeted for a stint in the 10 jersey. What wouldn't be in doubt is the class of Wales goalkicking, Anscombe is once again running at >80% this season, and Leigh needs no re-introduction.

I think he will move, he's not going to get an AB 10 shirt, and there is just too much logjam at 15. All that might change in 2016, but at 22 years old, he might not want to wait until he's 24 to play test match footie. Patience doesn't really seem a virtue these days, and who knows he could even end up swapping the red of Wales for the red of the Lions and heading back downunder in '17...

Planet Rugby are carrying it this morning. It'd be great to see him go to the Blues, regardless of which position he ends up playing.

It'd be really interesting if Wales stopped selecting Halfpenny and went with Anscombe at 15. That'd be a shot across the bow for players who leave to go to the Top 14!

By the end of the Super Rugby season there will be 49 Springboks playing overseas and 48 in SA.
    Grim.

Grim but massively impressive that they can have so many internationals playing elsewhere and still be such a force.

Might as well bump ye good ol' SXV thread.

Lovely wide pass from Nonunununu puts the Blues winger across, and an 8-0 lead.

Tahs playing some nice rugby. Some luck going their way too though.

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,855 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

I think that penalty has put it beyond the tahs at this stage, 7 mind left 8 points down

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,708 ✭✭✭ScissorPaperRock

    Cooper having a great game.

Handling errors letting them down though.

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,855 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

    Looking forward to this one!

Probably shout for the brumbies ;)

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,855 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

This is a great try of he gives it.
    Looks forward though

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,855 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

    Wow try stands

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Both tries looked like forward passes to me, this whole position of the hands is far too confusing for everyone involved.

The side line angle showed a clear forward pass, how they didn't call it is beyond me.

The first try never went to tmo so Walsh himself was happy with it, but yeah did seem to go slightly forward.

That few minutes is why I love watching Super Rugby.

End to end stuff. Some great attacking and some great defending as well.

Deserved yellow card, would have been a try otherwise. I'm sure he's glad he tripped him as well.

    Brumbies try

Chiefs short defending is absolute crap today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

Munster would be proud of that maul :P

Bonus point try, Brumbies looking great.

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,855 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

And bonus point try after 60 mins. ....

Chiefs just want the final whistle at this stage, it's already embarrassing.

Crusaders top of NZ conference, here we come! Or so I hope. Bye this week so not going anywhere but after a terrible start to the season there has been progress.

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,855 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

Anscombe isn't exactly looking like the great welsh hope lately.

Maybe gatland should look closer to home.

  • Registered Users Posts: 831 ✭✭✭hahashake

Well that was embarrassing. Probably our worst game in 3 years. Our reputation of being able to rotate the team and cope with injuries is being eroded. Cruden being the biggest loss but there is an extensive list of missing players. Our midfield was woeful (sorry Connacht) and Anscombe won't be missed from an AB perspective if he heads off to Wales. Still a decent 15 though.

Can see a Sharks v Brumbies final, with home advantage being a huge factor. This year has a lot of parity, mid table and lower teams can knock off top teams with home advantage and/or a little bit of luck.

He's a 15 IMO. Not an international 10, unless he chooses Scotland or the like :p

replacing James Hook in the 22 shirt is as far as his international career will go imo.

If there is a positive from tonight it's that Jerome is most certainly back in business.

    Jerome or Liam?

For me it's Jerome every time, he really is class. But I'd have Liam next in line, which means Luatua could be sweating his spot.

Jerome, although Liam has been immense for the last few years. I'd imagine Jerome will get a start v England and assuming he plays well will hold his position with Liam on the bench. Luatua hasn't improved this year so probably won't make the 23 but is a lineout option so he still has that going for him.

Sharks have looked pathetic in this half. Defense utterly ineffective.

And shìt. I forgot about this game. Come on the men in blue!

  • Registered Users Posts: 831 ✭✭✭hahashake

Damn that's impressive. Table leaders at home and they are being outplayed by the 9th placed team. Now that's parity.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,599 ✭✭✭matthew8

Tim Swiel is such an unimpressive kicker. He seems to snatch at every kick. Steyn must not have brought his kicking boots, on form he's a much better kicker.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,415 ✭✭✭Swiwi.

Three tries to zip, and the Sharks are closing in. Jake White has an effective but utterly boring coaching style. And yes I sat in Stade de France in 2007 :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,599 ✭✭✭matthew8

Just as they were closing in a horror show under the high ball and they concede a 5 metre scrum. Doing very well if they can keep them out here.
