Looking to replace my Nexus 6p which has been a disappointment.

    AMOLED or OLED
    Fast processor
No notch at top of screen
    No curved edges on screen
Android One, Stock Android or flashable to stock Android.

    Any recommendations?

samsung s8 probably your best option.

slight curve on the edge but you can't have everything.

My Nexus 6P got the BLOD a few months ago (it took me a big effort to bring it back to life) and that after that I decided the Google phones and myself need to take some time away.

I got the Galaxy 9 and I am very happy with it. Unlockable bootloader, bootable and I use Nova so the UI is the same I had in previous phones. I appreciate it is nowehere near EUR400.

Do phones need to be bootloader unlocked these days? The whole custom ROM thing seems to be dying a timely death.

the OP is asking for stock android or a phone where he wants to flash a stock android rom so it's relevant for this discussion.

Because of Android One there are loads of those now without any messing. The OLED with no notch is the harder one to pin down these days.

    Nokia 8.1, I don't think you'll get oled for 400

    that's why I suggested the samsung s8

oled, no notch and still a very good camera.

snapdragon 835 still powerful enough with an antutu score over 200,000

and good stable rom options to flash to stock android

you can buy it new for about 400 euro or slightly over

    Longshot this one!

    Samsung S7 (non edge version)
    Tick's all your boxes.

A few years old at this stage but still a good phone nonetheless.

Cheap as chips too at this stage. Try Amazon.de etc

Decided to go with a Nokia 7 Plus from Argos for e260.

Has an IPS LCD but will do as a stopgap. Hopefully in 18 months time the notch and curved glass fads will have passed and there will be more choices.
