Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mank ind".
Basically, it's made up of two separate words- "mank" and "ind".
What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

    We didn't start the fire
    But when we are gone
Will it still burn on, and on, and on, and on.

    We didn't start the fire
    It was always burning
    Since the world's been turning.
    We didn't start the fire
    No we didn't light it
But we tried to fight it.

In 500 years will our generation get a mention in history books, that’s if mankind hasnt destroyed itself through war, famine, climatic catastrophe or sheer stupidity? I suppose our generation invented the internet but other than that there is nothing noteworthy that might be included in the history books.

Of course the history books about the era will mention the era. Average guy won’t care.

No. It's only if you drink enough blood to kill them that they turn. You can take a sip and let them go on their way.

Nah, it's the other way around! They make vampires by biting them and just taking a sip.

Do you know when you walk by a restaurant and the smell of gravy or cooked meat wafts out, and you start salivating? Do vegetarians and vegans even pick up the smell? And are they immune to salivating to it?

If actors/actresses are married in real life, and playing the part of a spouse on stage/screen, do they wear their own wedding rings or a cheap fake piece?

    Likewise with smoking.
The character Bill Tench in Mindhunter smokes almost in every scene, are those real cigs or herbal, anyone know?

They start salivating when they walk by someone mowing their lawn.

I'm more intrigued and disturbed by the woman who was pecked to death by a rooster

Yes I was having trouble with that one. Apparently the poor woman had severe varicose veins and the rooster pecked at her and she bled out.

Once bitten you become a vampire I thought?

Never seen vampires feeding on vampires.

They could extract the blood by other means rather than biting and infecting them but I don't think op's farm idea would work for vampires. They'd get too bored like a lion being fed at the zoo.

Similarly, do they use their own phones in the relevant scenes.

They have prop phones, a lot of the time apple or Samsung or whatever will pay to have their phones used in the film, you will see cheverolet everywhere in big movies now.

I remember going to see Jurassic World and one scene cut to a can/glass of coke and it was really jarring because it was obviously an ad.

Theres some film,s its obvious, every pc is a mac, every laptop is an apple brand model,
the lead character use,s an iphone.
The matrix film still looks good apart from when someone use,s
an old style flip phone .
I think apple gives away loads of free laptops, and phones to film company,s
knowing they will be used in film,s or tv program,s .
It looks odd in old tv program,s , where people smoke anywhere .
Is it fair some people who work in office,s get 5-10 minutes off every hour
to go outside for a smoke.
If you are a non smoker you do not get a break to do nothing for 5 minutes .

When there's a fictional American president in a film or series is he the first president that differs from the real world one? And when the film or series is over do they continue having their own presidents?

What happened to Finder Spyder/Spyder Finder? This was the search engine used in loads of American series up to a few years ago. It doesn't seem to be used as much now and most fictional characters just use Google. I'd like to know the backstory of the founder of Finder Spyder and where he is now. He must be worth a fortune. His search engine seemed to have loads of features that Google doesn't. It was very ahead of its time.

Back in 1980, the year 2000 seemed so far away, it could as well have been 3000.
Now in 2020, the year 2000 seems to have been only yesterday.

If humans all died out now in some sort of mass extinction event the trace we'd leave would be about a millimeter thick in rock in a hundred millions years time and would probably never be discovered.

Except for the plastic. Geologists even have a name for it.
