What baffles me in this article is the fact 2000 letters were sent to one person

Some 2,000 letters had also been sent to him with no replies

Did they not get the gist that after like 10 letters and no replies that the person was never going to respond

I'm not sure if they would have authority, but they could hand deliver the letter to the persons address, proving the person received it and if no response in a month, bring them to court
sending ridiculous amount of letters is not only a waste of money but a waste of time

The only solution there is for the Gardai to seize the car if he's stopped and they check out his reg. but I'm not sure if they have the power to do that for toll evasion.

I didnt mean specifically for him but in general, instead of spending all that money posting letters, could they not send someone to delivery it or something

They would have to get a court judgement against you in order for it to affect your ability to obtain credit.

A lot of people simply do not give a **** as there will be nothing done about it. I recently saw the partner of a well known criminal come back to her car which was double parked on a main street causing a traffic build up.She first gave the finger to motorists that were beeping her. She then whipped off a parking ticket that was on the car, tore it in pieces and threw it on the stree. Then drove off with her phone up to her ear while roaring abuse at a traffic warden on the street.

In all the prosecutions which resulted in the fines being imposed yesterday, none of the defendants appeared in court.

The fact that they didn't bother their ho1es to show up in court gives an insight into the mindset being dealt with.
