Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Thanks Pinky. Hadn't heard about this. I have checked their website several times and have yet to see if its possible to sign up for event updates. Have I missed it somewhere?

    If any posters attended this event could they give us an overview of what it was like?

    Particularly interested in The Bank of Ireland Stock Book, 1783-1800 and Adoption Records.

    I attended two of the talks incl the B of I one. The stock book is kept in the Pearse Library. It dates from 1783 to about 1800 and includes details of accounts and shareholders from that time which was when the bank was set up. The lady giving the talk has listed all names in it as they are scattered thro the book and many overlaps. This will be available soon in the library as a database. So it really reads like a set of current account transactions but with genealogy in mind she was able to tease out further details of interest such as women who were widowed and details of offspring if payments made to them. Executors of wills also had accounts so details of payments from same of interest. Mostly men and mostly well to do .... some were business accounts. Minimum of £40 to average of bet £500 and 1000 were holdings in accounts.
