Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Nearly Each garage got one when they launched and a bunch of merchandise and toys to sell I was in opel in wexford and think we only sold two, one was yellow and another silver.

The yellow one is still owned by the garage I believe. Limerick based dealer.

I know it’s not but I can’t get a Fiat Ritmo out of my head when I see it.

I think it's something weird and rear engined, possibly with a glass fiber body.

Perhaps some kind of Gurgel (Brazilian)?

Can't find a matching pic though

Colour and general oddness made me think of a bond bug, but it's not one of those.

The VX220 was the previous guess, totally unrelated

It’s not rear engined, although it was apparently originally designed to be but ended up front engined

It’s a European car. Designed by an Italian, Originally supposed to be a German car, but ended up being built by a company elsewhere in Europe

    No, not British.

Can’t give nationality as it would be too obvious.

From the photo I was thinking that it was a Talbot maybe, but after seeing the above, I have no ideas, the fuel cap is really killing me  I'll try a Lancia?

I'm really flumoxxed. I was thinking Fiat/Lancia but they have the fuel fillers on the right (usually). The "not British" is beating me also. The lights, boot angle, window scream MK1 Capri to me but they didn't have flush plastic bumpers. I'm going to go with an early Mitsubishi Mirage/Colt......

Some Fiats from the 70s anyway had the petrol filler on the left.

    I don't think it's Italian though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,478 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

    Dead right.

The Ibiza Bocanegra concept (black mouth in Spanish) concept from 2008 was a homage to the 1200 coupe.

The 1200 body was initially designed for NSU and was to be rear engined. Seat put the engine in the front but kept the rear side vents.

Funnily enough, NSU has been bought by VW and merged with Auto Union at that stage. VW would go on to buy SEAT from the Spanish government in 1986.
