wouldnt worry about it, you were expecting a repeat of 1963 these things happen. didnt you get snow last night, i havent seen any.
Never again i tells u tonite has taught me something

    1. Epiphany
    1. A Christian feast celebrating the manifestation of the divine nature of Jesus to the Gentiles as represented by the Magi.
    2. January 6, on which this feast is traditionally observed.
    2. A revelatory manifestation of a divine being.
    3.
    1. A sudden manifestation of the essence or meaning of something.
    2. A comprehension or perception of reality by means of a sudden intuitive realization: “I experienced an epiphany, a spiritual flash that would change the way I viewed myself” (Frank Maier).

Anyways theres more where the snow that people have got
today coming your way during the day and a cold front will
approach from 1500hrs. Temperatures wont get above 3c today :)

tell you what though the people who run that premium rate weather call phone number are loosing their money by the minute. have had their webcam streem running for the past two hours.

Well I went 2 miles and gave up, no way was I going to drive 50 miles this morning, the roads are snow white and very very dangerous.

There was a decent shower here for the last 30 minutes stopped now but there at least 2 inches here, on the lawn there even be 2 and a half.

Weathercheck I wouldn't give up yet tonight could bring a surprise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

Well a brief hail shower really capped of the night and morning
like a punch in the face after being tortured for days..

Chin up for me anyway and i'm jealous of those lucky people
who will wake up to a fair dollop expecially in North Dublin
    and Meath :)

More showers through the morning and then as i mentioned the cold front
    towards afternoon :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,951 ✭✭✭✭Villain

But there won't be enough cloud cover to stop the thaw will there?

Oh and what do you expect that cold front to bring?

Well latest satellite and radar imagery of the cold front
that it is very very active although it will dy over the
pennines in England and then have to reinvigore over the
Irish sea so dotn really know. Really want a heavy snow shower
to give me an excuse for no school :);):D

Development of the cold front could be very stark
and is now, the development of a polar low
    of sorts is possible :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,811 ✭✭✭✭billy the squid

which map do you have the polar low showing up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

There's no polar low atm but the cold front is very active
it's now coming into eastern england as the white band

ok 4.15am snowing again and 'sticking' even on the coast(wicklow) at lower levels Id imagen a couple of miles inland has a fair dusting by now.

I'm a couple miles north of Wicklow town. Got 1.5mm precipitation overnigt. It has practically all thawed, though I can see a 5mm "drift" :D

A fantastic hale around the moon. Can see snow on the hills and some cloud to my north. Soe radar echoes ove rthe mountains but can't see those clouds.

Earthman is probably digging out his cows, or getting out his upstairs windows. I think he has had th biggest dumping.

Plenty echoes over the sea. Looks like a good line of showers through Louth into Meath.

Temp is lowest of night at =1.0C Dewpoint just below 0C and grass temp is now falling, down to -1C. Wind is variable.

Cloud moving over from north. Don't see any precipitation. A bizarre white cloud to my SW. Looks like white emulsion paint. I wonder if its something to do with lying snow.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

Looks like I'm just about to be hit. Shower approaching from north. Hopefully it won't slide off to my west.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

Well i think the next 36-38hrs could be sensational plenty
of periods of snow possible as the cold spell swings into gear.

Already talk in Britain of drifting snow through Northwest England
and Wales, the frontal band is expected to affect areas in the
    east tomorrow.

First this active cold fron approaching from North England :)

Hail. Looks heavy to my north.

Sally and Wicklow gap closed and N11 is bad in places with overturned lorry on newtown'kennedy bypass.

Ground is white now with this hail shower.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

Gone below freezing here now.. -0.3c
Variable cloud with something more threatening
    to my east :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

    It's already stopped :(

I think the bulk of it did pass to my west.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,951 ✭✭✭✭Villain

This is unreal, you would want to see the snow falling in tullow at the moment, heavy very heavy, I could see it coming and it didn't disappoint.

We'll have over 3 inches soon, just not sure how long it will last. The footprints I made half an hour ago are covered back over again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,806 ✭✭✭Lafortezza

Hail in Dublin Airport at about 0645, heavy shower for about 10 minutes. Nothing else fell really tonight, small amount of sleet.

Report from the world of To Be Confirmed:
Yesterday was a bit of a non-event, the precipitation that did hit louth was almost always hailstones/frozen rain.

Did very well Monday morning, snowed for 7 hours flat in some shape or form, stopped at 1pm. Melted by 3 pm:(

I woke up this morning (1 hr ago) to see a whiteout with 2 inches of snow!! It snowed further and it's now approaching 3 inches! Anymore and I could have a day off, because living in a hilly area makes for very dangerous driving. I dont remember depths like this since 2001, when my primary school was officialy closed:D and the roads further up the road had to be cleared with a bulldozer  Snow has just stopped, leaving 3 inches in its wake:) Fingers crossed I wont have to go to school :p And more to come!! ;)

Shower has cleared tullow open skys above but to the east the cloud cover is keeping the sun hidden for now.

Another shower off to the north east, might catch the tail of it but probably to far to the east to get it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

just a warning about the snow shower that passed around
500m to my south, it is heading into the city centre now

Yes 500m no joke saw snow falling next door

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

The cold front has now formed a interesting line
    http://www.avbrief.com/newcharts//20050223RDUK97V0745_lradar_0.gif

Should be interesting when it peps up over the Irish sea, could
    be an interesting afternoon :)

The ETA of the front is around 12 - 1 for the east coast :)

    could
    be an interesting afternoon :)
    Copy that!

Meanwhile the heavy snow is getting worse here, sky is black all round now -visibility down to about 100 metres or less probably

More hail at the airport, visibility is all over the place from 30km down to 4000m, clouds are down to 100ft then back up to 2500ft.
Forecast showing more of the same, low vis, snow and hail showers.

All I ask is one day where I can skip work because of snow :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 80 ✭✭FuzzyZoeller

O.3C here in Naas. Light dusting of snow (not half as much as this time yesterday), but it's of the more powdery kind this morning. Also, very dark looking clouds overhead. Here's hoping!!!
