So the final round draw is available here.

I'll do up the standings after round 8 now

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,156 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

A very high-scoring round, with three players - including two of the four main chasers at the top - picking up the maximum of 15 points. But WilliamKenny scored a solid 12, and though the lead is now down to 8, it's still substantial going into the last round.

Depending on how seriously people are taking this, if you want to PM me your tips for the final round (rather than post publicly here), fire ahead. I'll post any tips I do receive here shortly after 3pm tomorrow.

    I'll go for -

    Kavin v Melaugh
    Peoples v Putar
    Putar v O'Gorman

Though I've done well tipping my clubmates to lose all week, and changing tack may be a bad idea!

My chances of winning this competition have gone :(

In R9, I will go for
    Lara Putar v Alice O'Gorman
    Paul Wallace - Gerry O'Connell
    Alex Byrne - Eoghan Casey

I am withdrawing gracefully. I missed the first rd and I will miss the last rd but a mid table finish fine by me!

Good luck to all in the last rd!

    Round 9:

    Mirza - Moran
    Putar - O'Gorman
    Venkatesan - Melaugh.

Overall (not that it counts for anything): Collins and O'Gorman win, Daly draws. Collins champion.

I really need to finish in top ten in the tipping competition, 5 points so far today with one game still going and looking level, dunno if 7pts would do it for me. I can't stand the tension

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,156 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Seems most people went with my tips, and how very middle of the road they were (1 win, 1 draw, 1 loss)

Shout-out to macelligott, who tipped himself to beat Carl, but then took an early draw! :)

A low-scoring round meant there was never any danger of WilliamKenny losing his lead. FMtoog, having stormed into contention with five successive 5-pointers across rounds 7 and 8, choked when it mattered and dropped to fourth. I hope he did better in the tournament proper :p

I'm sure sodacat11 is good for the prizes!
