I feel you are missing the point. Hitting or using physical force against another person is, apart from in defence of your self or defence of another, is simply wrong. She was wrong to interfere; it's wrong that the artist involved hadn't ensured that proper security wasn't in place to avoid random audience members wandering onto the stage; at the end of the day though, while she may have been distracting him, she did nothing to warrant a physical attack.

As regards equal rights? I'd be equally disgusted by his assault whether it happened to be a man or a woman who was the victim.
