Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It went 'wrong' when competition increased, or so says economics.

Of course it isn't, but a certain demographic enjoy it and its popularity brings in advertising and sponsorship, thats what the brief is. Youd be moaning about a bigger deficit otherwise. Do they address your cultural needs at other times? Folk and trad, poetry, punk, rebels, painters?

Its crap and everyone knows it, the presenters are second rate and the stars are known only to their mothers. I dont know how much it costs and I don't know how much it makes in advertising, do you?

RTE is running a very banal lineup with many poor copies of UK and US shows.
I honestly think RTE has run its course and should be wound down to a large extent or let it work as a purely commercial station.l Maybe news, TLLS and a few other cultural show could be subsidised but shows like dancing with the stars have zero cultural merit.

The main problem is all this reality TV junk. It is everywhere from RTE to BBC to American channels. One thing copies another. This DWTS is a copy of a show of the same name from the UK which in turn is just a copy of Strictly Come Dancing. This is EXACTLY the problem and transcends RTE. Mrs Brown in all her guises (MBB, ARTMB or the films) are another abomination.

But not working with immigrants. As someone pointed out earlier it must be the place where the least amount of immigrants work. They will have to wait until they marry into the place.

Liz Bonnin is the only non-white person I can remember ever seeing on RTE
