Nelly left and in the rough could be awkward stance

    This could be interesting now.

Nelly to about 2/3 ft for birdie

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,337 ✭✭✭Wombatman

Wow. Game on. No guaranteed bird for Nelly here.

Out side left edge for eagle ran a bit by for Leona

Hmmm.. interesting. Bad miss with an 8 iron.

    Birdie Nelly
    Par Leona

    Fantastic display by Leona

Just comes up short. Another massive step in her career though and great experience to play in final group with Nelly.

Firmly in solheim cup contention now

Fair play to her she gave the eagle putt a go,Nelly was stone dead after her chip so the birdie putt back meant nothing to Leona with 2nd secure. Great week.

    Well done regardless.

    Super effort.

62 for nelly yesterday was decisive. Nothing lost for Leona today, went toe to toe with a great talent and never ceded an inch till the end. $214,000 for second gonna read very nicely on all the ranking lists. Onwards and upwards.

The win is surely coming for her, great week

6 birdies, no bogey, 66,she'd have fancied her chances of it being enough. No shame in finishing 2nd,a good week all round. Can't help but think a win is coming soon

If you’re going to not win, would be hard to find a better way to do it. Pushed Korda all the way and must have added big-time to Solheim Cup creds. Possibly into top 15 in both prizemoney list and Race to CME Globe too.

Up to 13th in race to CME globe.

Next up is a major this weekend? would love to see her win any tournament but a major as your first would be class.

Thanks to the strong field she picked up good world ranking points and has jumped 25 places up to 63rd.

I reckon she is 8th on the Solheim Cup world rankings list with the top 4 to make the team.

Correct. Charley Hull is last qualifier at 51 and then there are 3 more before Maguire, Georgia Hall, Anna Nordquist and the Dane, Madsen. It's pretty tight. There are 8 events left up to British Open after which team is picked so I'd guess she'll play in most if not all of them. No worries about qualification for majors anyway. She's making a solid case to be a pick but all the better if she took that decision out of the captains hands!

That's the LET points list, only 2 to qualify from that.
4 more from the world rankings and 6 Captains pick.

As the highest ranked European in the race to CME globe she's a wildcard cert on current form.

I'd agree she's in a fantastic position, compared to just a matter of weeks ago when it barely looked a 50-50 shot. Of those not in automatic slots, i'd say Hall and Boutier are dead certs and Leona is in better form than either of them. Assuming she doesn't fall off a cliff, she's making it extremely difficult for matthews to overlook her.

Level par for her opening round at the LPGA, not bad at all, there's one player each on -5 and -4, everyone else is -3 or worse so she's not far behind. T29

This seems to be a course for the longer hitters, so unlikely to be a week where she can mount a challenge. So on that basis top 30 after the first round is good going and puts her in a decent position to make the cut at least.

None of those at the top of the leaderboard are that long off the tee. Salas is very short.

64 for Boutier today :) you woke her up.

Leona was a top ten favourite for this major before it took place , and is still a top ten favorite for this major after round 1

She is 100 % playing in the soleheim Cup, unless some bizarre injury

Nice endorsement of Leona for the Solheim Cup team from Trish Johnson, the Sky pundit just there: “the perfect candidate” to bring new blood to the team.
