Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What kind of an idiot makes a solid gold art piece toilet then actually plumbs it in and opens it up to the public.

The police's best investigator is on another case, so they're putting their number 2 on it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 890 ✭✭✭seamusk84

They are working 24/7 to flush out the thieves.

Hoping to crack the case ASAP.

What are they going to do with it? You can hardly walk into a pawn shop with a gold toilet saying "Eh Churchill might have taken a dump in this gold toilet how much will you give me?"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,717 ✭✭✭YFlyer

I'm sure crap doesn't damage gold. However piss and bleach could have some itching effect on it.

It’s gold paulie, solid gold, think about it.

    Melt it down I assume?
Gold has a low melting point, so easier to do.

It's art. You're supposed to look at it's significance while rubbing your chin.

    God! Plebs.

Well this was my first ever opening post in AH and the replies are exactly as I expected so I can't complain, but I thought this was the stupidest thing I ever heard of and one of the funniest. Bet the thing was melted down within hours.

Unlikely, they wouldn’t know what a toilet is as they Shiite in a bucket.

It's time to close the lid on this.

It's not that low. It's about the same temperature that copper melts at.

    You need a metallurgic furnace.

And a licence for the furnace.

I presume if you’ve just stolen a multimillion pound gold ‘boombox’ then a licence is the least of your concerns.

It's wrong to suspect a certain segment of society, but I'll bet it turns out to being a heavy metal fan.

Silly idea for a toilet but an Au-some theft.

Fecking ejits. Surely having a camera in there might have made some sense or even around the area if you can't have it in where the toilet was itself.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

The linked RTE article states that police believe at least 2 vehicles were involved in the robbery. Is this based on evidence of 'skidmarks' left at the scene?

Self-indulgent, vulgar and pretty decadent when there are people in dire poverty and children going hungry in the UK, let alone the world.

Why do I get the niggling feeling that this so called "theft" was staged just to generate a bit of publicity for the gold toilet?
