Aye Motley, welcome aboard, You prob know it already but the Crue played Belfasts Ulster Hall in 1986, NEVER a Dublin date tho, Nikki Sixx & Vince Neil must be secret staunch loyalists :D;);)

NO WAY! I had no idea, someone HAS to post me a picture of that stub or photos...if they have them

I taught Motley Crue had never set foot on Irish soil

Even Nikki cancelled, or claimed to have never made, the Brides of Destruction booking for Whelans in 2004

    Hi

Just been reading about the SFX. Do you remember the year of the Killing Joke gig? Was it 94? Was talking to someone about this recentkly(Killing Joke played here a few weeks back) and he was adamant it was The Tivoli they played.

    Any ideas?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 408 ✭✭Luke G

SFX as far as i know man, And that gig last month was The Best gig i've been top this year, Killing Joke are a class act live, I've actually got the shirt from the 94 gig, SFX is the date on it, Hope this helps?? was the last time they played here until this year.

    Hi

Yeah. I was right! Was SFX. He is still adamant about Tivoli though. Was at the Button Factory. Superb gig. Went over to the Hammersmith gig too. Great fun. They actually played Dublin(Music Centre) and Belfast in 2003 (didnt make it to either).
Theres a bootleg of the Dublin gig out there(audience recording). It isnt bad. You should check it out.(Its an audience recording).
What do you think of the new album? I think its great. There isnt many old geezers out there making a racket like them. They're doing it in reverse. Getting heavier as they get older!!!

Epic thread, wish there was a thank all posts button theres just too many :)

Some of the venues getting mentioned, I hadn't thought about in years. Don't have my tickets here as they are at my parents house. Must have a look through them next time I'm up there.

I think it's a shame they don't do fancy tickets for shows anymore, remember the cool ones for REM in slane and a couple of other's

What a great thread. Some very sweet and very bittersweet memories associated with some of those tickets!

Memories of Big Country at the Phoenix Park in '83, made it to the 2nd or 3rd row from the stage by the end, Stuart Adamson was literally crying like a baby with the emotion of it all. Amazing. Big Self, Eurythmics, Simple Minds were on that bill as well as U2, what a line up.

Plus that Lloyd Cole & the Commotions gig at the SFX one Sunday night around Christmas '85, I went to that on my own and the entire front 3 rows were screaming teenage girls as he was a heart throb at the time! Saw him solo in Whelans last year and wondered were any of those teenage ladies present :)
