Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

General waste disposal Carrigart / Downings

    Hi all,

We are wondering is there anywhere to bring general waste for dumping anywhere around Carrigart / Downings?

I know there's a recycling centre in Milford but apart from Sharkey's bags that get collected every second Friday I'm struggling to find anything online about somewhere you can bring your rubbish?

Every second Friday is grand for permanent residents but it's too rigid for holiday homes surely, as most properties are at the end of the day.

If you're from the island of Ireland, would you not take your waste home and dispose of it at your permanent residence? That's what I do.

I've just checked - the recycling centres take household waste too. €5 per bag up to 10kg. https://www.brysonrecycling.org/households/recycling-centres/donegal-recycling-centres

This isn't practical if you have a family of 5 in a house for a week or 2 you'd need a trailer - aside from the smell your car will already be full of luggage. Then people go mad when rubbish gets dumped at recycling bins etc...

For somewhere pretty much completely dependent on tourist income you would think this kind of thing would be well flagged but as usual getting this kind of info is like pulling teeth. We want them but we don't want them, it was ever thus.

Yep, we found the Bryson recycling centre in Milford takes general waste and very reasonable rates too. Problem solved, but it took 15 years to solve! Trust me, loading up your car with food waste and rubbish was never an enjoyable end to a holiday so this was a massive relief.
