    Please, please I really need some advice
    My beautiful 24 year old daughter for the last six months has been plagued with really bad eczema, to the extent that she wants to go to A&E tonight

    As a child she always had mild eczema, but the last six months she is so bad and depressed with it I seriously think she could kill herself because of the pain.
    Her skin is seeping and she cant stop scratching

    What im looking for is some advice or a recommendation for the best dermatologist in the country
    I dont care for the cost, ill get a credit union loan if I have to ?

    Here’s a message I posted in response to a similar post, asking to recommend a doctor. The type of doctor sought is different, but the concept is the same:
    I’m sorry, but...

    do you really think that a bunch of random d1ckheads on an internet site will be better able to recommend a surgeon fir a specialised procedure than your GP would?

    Just how would that conversation go?

    Doctor: I’m going to refer you to Mr. Joe Bloggs, who’s an expert surgeon that has been performing similar operations for 15 years in the Super Excellent Private Clinic”

    Patient: No, thanks. CraigzlistNoob723 told me that his uncle Fred had it done by Dr Nick Rivera in the back office of a dry cleaners in Ballyfermot. I think I’d prefer to go there!

    Her GP is not being much help obviously because of the pandemic, we both understand that GP's are under huge stress

    But I was hoping a concerned parent or someone who had the same condition could help

    I PM'd you my dermatologist.

    She is a professor of Dermatology. Located in Dublin.

    She diagnosed me in 15mins & helped me with the same symptoms.
    Beacon & multiple others got it all wrong.

    I am on medication, the problems don't go away totally but it's enough to control the seeping & itching and to get the condition under control enough to lead a good life.

    It's easier for some than others.

    I would probably be much better except that i have no consistency in applying medication.

    If you haven't done so already, then get a referral to her.

    No guarantees, but it's trial & error.

    My brother had bad eczema years ago and my mother took him to The Whitfield Clinic in Waterford. He got on very well after that and was completely clear of it eventually. Can’t remember the name of the man he saw.

Roaccutane is very good for bad eczema but they are very iffy in handing it out if there is any talk of depression as apparently that is a potential side effect so I would stay away from discussing that. Just ring his office, make the appointment and say youve v bad skin. don't say it is affecting your mood etc

    Having a tough few weeks after the heat with my skin becoming unbearably itching at points. I tried a lot of different creams but some were making it worse.

    Got prescribed 'audavate RD ointment' and its working wonders

    I'd definitely recommend it

    From experience:

    • try to control any severely broken skin with covering/bandage
    • blast with high strength steroid for a week or 10 days to reduce inflammation (eumovate or even better Betnovate etc)
    • moisturize twice daily with epaderm

    Try to reduce any triggers -> allergies, dust, pets etc. Typically dairy, wheat or other foods can trigger severe ezcema but everyone is different.

    Fish, shellfish, citrus, kiwi are also possibilities. Get some allergy tests done and it may turn out that something she is eating regularly is making her skin break out.
