Backlight/ Front light solution for a Neo Geo Pocket

Picked up a Neo Geo Pocket colour. However, its basically unplayable without a front/backlight. Anyone know if theres a simple solution or are we looking a big mod?

There is a mod to put a GBA SP front light into the machine but it's kind of not worth it. It's incredibly tough to achieve without seriously damaging the NGP and the front light might make the games visible but it washes out the colours and looks horrible. I find the NGP playable during the day and with a light, it's not so bad but wish it was more playable at night.
