Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Has anyone a gps or strava file for it to have a look...
Strava: https://www.strava.com/activities/831759930 The last 5km is missing as my watch dies but you are on the way to table track (the home stretch) there so nav is not needed for it, you're pretty much home :-)
What is interesting...If you go in to my Strava Link, view the fly-bys, look for someone called Shane and you will see how it can go drastically wrong in the mountains.

One or two hiking clubs organise their own Art O'Neill Challenge a week before or after the official one. Here's one from a few years ago:

Can you change what you sign up for as in running to a hybrid or vice versa....
    Sitting on the fence still....

I think you can change from the Ultra to the Hybrid but not the other way around. Think the Ultra has more spots available but more people apply for the Ultra so it's a bit of a catch 22.
My advice.....If you are entering go for the Ultra. If you can get a couple of recces done it eases the uncertainty, and at least you can drop back to the Hybrid if you don't fancy the ultra in the week leading up to it.

I've thrown my name in the hat for the ultra despite some misgivings :)

I'm a past "victim" of the AON. I strongly recommend you do it, it's a great event, a real tester of your inner strength.

It's important to do the recce's of Checkpoint 1 to 2 and CP2 to the finish.

You can enter the Ultra and then when you get to CP1 revert to the Hybrid. If you do the recce's, can read a map and trust yourself you will be fine with the Ultra.

There's an info evening about a week before which is very helpful.

Anybody know of any hiking groups doing the route the weekend before? I know groups do this each year. I'm not suggesting going the same weekend as the official event.

I'd be interested in going at midnight on Friday the 5th of January. Is it possible to get a bus near Glenmalure lodge the following day?

Are entries transfered if the person can't take part?
