Cold hit warm?

Hey guys and girls, was on my way to france yesterday, spotted this when we hit the uk, wondering if its the cold hitting the warm? Hard to see but just infront of the wing you can see a line, it was alot clearer and i could see depth to it from sight...

It's a common occurence in cold highs like this one. It's the edge of a stratocumulus sheet, and its abruptness is to do with maybe a change in wind direction and hence airmass. We can see such a feature running from southern Wales northeastwards through the midlands at 1500 yesterday. It occurs just north of the ridge axis, and therefore there's a subtle wind direction from calm or easterly to southwesterly, which drags more moisture in over Wales. Also, near the centre of the high, the subsidence inversion will be greatest, so this will also inhibit cloud formation.
